Are you talking about the snorkel?

No. Lift up the lid and look at the bottom. There's a little channel thingy that looks like it directs air to the back of the airbox after it goes through the snorkel.

I believe that piece is to help keep moisture/water/mud from going straight onto your filter if it gets sucked through the snorkel and into the box.

I think it might also be to help hold the filter in place too, it is shaped so it touches the filter, just how it seems to me...

I removed it, along with most of my airbox lid  :D

It's good at preventing water from being sucked in when it comes through the snorkel. Then again, it also acts as a restriction.[/b]
Did you have to re-jet? I to the lid to the air box off on my 4 wheeler, and when I give it gas it just cuts out and won't go any higher than 3000-4000 rpm? whats the problem? :?:

yeah, running with the lid fully intact vs chopped open/off is a BIG difference and made me jump from a 145 to a 152.5
