Are “fat bars” (1 1/8in bars) worth it??

What are the pros and cons on upgrading to 1 1/8inch bars?? Can I still use my stock controls?? And is there any way to understand which bends mean what?? Like which bends are taller or shorter over stock?? Thanks

i would say they are better than stock. Yes you can still use your stock controls because it tapers back down to 7/8 at the controls. Almost all bends except for ProTaper Raptor bend is lower than stock.

Gotcha, thanks!! What makes them better over stock??
With them being larger in diameter they are more durable in a spill. Also most of them are made of way better materials than the stock cheap aluminu.

Ahhh, that makes sense!!
Personally I just swapped to some 1 1/8 bars from stock, other then adding an anti vibe clamp I don't think it's much of a difference. I also put a +2 taller stem on so they are basically the same height but about 2in wider and a bit less swept back. The fatter bars made putting all my handlebar mounted stuff a bit more awkward but it all fit in the end.

They probably will hold up in a rollover better but I did quite like the impact damping of the stock flexible steel bars. These are Turner RC/RM High Bend from Motorsport, Alba +2 stem and anti vibe clamp.
