I have a 06 kfx 400 and recently the quad starts cutting out and will stall if I fully press the throttle. Any time I try to rev it up it cracks and stalls like the jetting is crazy off. Carb is clean, reverse sensor is good, and everything else has checked ok. I have a big gun cdi I there and bought this quad used. So far, $700 of repair, and only 12 rides in the past 4 months.... Like I said, once the bike gets warmed up I feel like the box is failing.

I have read that some of my symptoms are similar to a bad cdi and the guys where I work are guessing the same. I tried to get the bike to act up in front of the mechanics when it started but of course it worked great. I work at Action Powersports in Litchfield. :) A Polaris, Suzuki, and Kawasaki dealership

I have had had my big gun in my bike with no problems. It's a piece of electric they will all fail at some point.
I went through two procoms in less than a year, they sent me a brand new one, sold it to another member, and it failed after the first ride. Now the other member is using my dyna that I had on for two years, and i'm using a dyna programmable, no problems on either end.

Yep procom stinks, just like biggie I had the same issue with them but got one more ride out of it then he did (2 total) before it did what yours is doing, after a little while it just quit all together. Dyna are just as reliable as stock cdi's which means very good. Plus they stand behind their products and have a huge following with a proven racing track record.
Anyways check the basics,
clean air filter
good spark plug and lead
spark plug drain hole not clogged
petcock flowing enough fuel
clean and properly adjust the carb / fresh gas.
if it's hard to start, check the valve adjustment also
Check those things before spending money on a new cdi, if it comes down to it buy a used stocker or dyna from here on the forum or ebay before you get another procom/big gun/yoshimura (the early yosh boxes were not rebranded procoms later ones are but I'm not sure what year they switched) cdi.

You won't find a Yosh box for an 05&up that's Mitsubishi, they're all procom.
