Filters r pretty much useless if u don't open up ur airbox in my opion. K&N flow more but lets more dirt in than the others, if u ave a K&N it should have an outwears on it. I'm waiting for K&N to come out a airfilter cuz i don't want the Alba kit, i rather have it made for my machine by the manufaturer. You will get some good power from taking off the airbox lid, but u need to rejet and jetting depends on elevation.

i have the K&N, outerwear, and alba's adapter on my bike. since my pipe hasnt gotten here yet i am running a 145 main jet. i have dynojet's kit as well which changes the needle also.

i did notice a power difference already, not a big one, but you can tell it opened up a little.

the kits are really easy to install.
is K&N the only one that clamps on?? is proflow gonna come out with something soon?? anyone know?
here's the part number for uni and it's price:

PART NO. NU-2483ST $22.95
I'm using a Uni and really like it. I think it flows just as much as a K&N with outerwears. I also like the filtering ability of foam. BTW its the same filter for the 2002 Eiger and Vinson.
cool cool, what jet jets did u use? did u notice a big power increase?
I'm running a 27.5 pilot jet and a 165 main. The airbox lid is off and the small nozzle was removed from the endcap. The power feels great but I checked my plug after riding several hours today and it was black. Definitely too rich. I'll try a 160 next and see what happens.
165 is way to rich!! Most people with the Yoshi pipes r running a 152.5 w/out airbox lid snorkel removed. So u might want to try a 150 and keep doing plug readings.

You may be right. I'll just work my way down until it's right. WP is at 170, but He has a full Trinity Stage IV. DadsZ400 is at 165 with an HMF slip-on. Elevation here is 700 ft. Higher elevations will use smaller jets. Better too rich than too lean. Even running rich, this baby runs alot better breathing.
Airbox mod questions...

Ok I dont want to seem rude, But Why remove the snorkle if your going to remove the airbox lid????
I am running the Alba K&N filter with outerwear and a 155 main. I am running with the lid off and the snorkel removed. I did it at the same time that I put on my Trinity Stage IV full pipe. I can't tell you what difference it made if any. I like the K&N air filter because I think they are easier to clean, you just spray them down with cleaner and spray them off (how easy can it get). I had one on my Polaris and I liked it, and never had a bit of problems with it. The snorkel went bye bye, you could leave it if you are taking the lid off but why let it in there if it doesn't serve a purpose? So far I would recommend both the K&N and the pipe to other Z riders but be warned of Trinity's shipping department.
thanx for your input!
filter questions

tryin to decide what filter to get. cant decide between uni or k&n from alba. dont like the idea of dust gettin through the k&n but can i run a uni without the airbox lid? i ride in sand as well as dirt and dusty areas. any recomendations?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THERE SHIPPING DEPARTMENT?
I too went with the K&N with alba intake. I like it a lot just because it is so easy to clean as opposed to foam. And I can tell, just from starting it up, that it flows better. It idles cold better. I know, cause my girl's Z is still in stock form. I am pretty sure that there won't be a K&N made specifically for the Z's airbox because of the lip design of the stock box. I can't wait to use the filter with an exaust. Oh yeah, don't bother with the K&N without the outerwears.
peace
Faterz, myself and another guy on here have had numerous problems with Trinity's shipping department. First they tell me that I get free shipping for spending over $500.00, but they charge me full price for shipping and won't do anything about it. So here I am I pay full price for 3-day shipping from CA, but they addressed it incorrectly. It took me almost 2-weeks to get it and they didn't even send it 3-day they sent it ground. I had to call UPS and get them to change the address because Trinity wouldn't do anything about it. At least everything was there when I got the item. I can't say that for the other guy that was complaining about them.
I just got a kandn with and alba adapter, and the adapter took like 20 minutes to install u just have to take out ur air box to dril holes. i would recomend yellow outer were because it is easyer to tell how dirty it is.
