I noticed that it seems that maybe a 22" rear tire would work better on the trails, and keep wheel spin down some??

Anyone else try this yet??

If so what are the improvements and downfalls if any??

What sprocket changes would be required??

Any info is appreciated

Thanx,

I ran some 22-11-9 razr's (borrowed) at a local xc race, you might not need a gearing change,it did pretty good but if you decide to change I would just drop one on the front.

Going down 1 on the front is like going up 3 on the rear, but the shorter
radius on the front puts alot more stress on the chain.

more stress on the chain? I been doing it for years and never had any problems. that is such a small difference in radius.

stock tires are dang near the size of xc holeshots, about 1" shorter. You probably wont have anymore traction with any other tire really. Most mudder type tires will loop out in a slide very easily. If you dont gear down the quad will feel like a dog. If you have a chance to borrow a buddies taller tires from a 400ex for a couple minutes do that first and see what you think. Mud tires are only good in mud and if the trail is hard and wet they all will spin. stock z tires are slightly bigger than 400ex stockers, on the rear anyway.
