Got a KFX 400, was running shitty. Backfiring, wouldn't rev up. Nothing. Well. I went back to stock pipe, switched stock 130 main for a 145 main and I got it to rev up great. Has a high idle but revs up. Header gets red hot and I'm assuming both these are in effects to it running lean. Any ideas? Stock settings on carb minus the bigger jet from my warrior as a test

Well, the main only works on the top half of the rpm range, so it would have no effect on idle. Maybe a little if the idle is really high. The red exhaust is probably due to idling so high with no airflow to cool off the pipe. Get the idle down first, then start working with tuning. A dirty plunger (aka slide) can make it stick and not seat the needle, causing the high idle. Could be a slew of other things like throttle cable too tight, idle thumbscrew not actually turning the idle down, etc.
