got the idle adjusted? will it stay running if you are on the throttle? if so, it is probably the idle screw needing adjusted.
Clogged vacuum line on the carb? Maybe gum in the carb? Have you pulled the carb and cleaned it well? Just some suggestions :icon_biggrin:it has real good throttle response it just dies right about 8 to 10 seconds and kinda backfires while doing so ive checked the plug its a nice dry chocolate brown but now i checked all the fluids and the oil tank was full of white milky oil full to the top so im assuming my coolant is getting past a gasket and mixing with the oil which means i need a new gasket kit if im wrong or you have any suggestions please help me out thanks[/b]
having the same issued, wont idle, carb was rebuilt with cleaned parts. starts right up only with throttle held open a little. Im wondering if its flooding, but doesnt smell rich coming from the exhaust. Questioning your response, when you refer to the idle screw? Are you talking about an internally threaded brass fitting adjustment or the hand turned idle set adjuster on the side of the carb? i understand there is a idle air adjuster at the bottom of the carb on the outlet side of the carb?got the idle adjusted? will it stay running if you are on the throttle? if so, it is probably the idle screw needing adjusted.
Did you put in a new idle jet when you rebuilt the carb? Does it idle if you hold the throttle on a little. If so just adjust the idle with the black knob (did I remember that right?)having the same issued, wont idle, carb was rebuilt with cleaned parts. starts right up only with throttle held open a little. yes, it will run with the adjustment tight causing a high idle, once warmed up and i try to bring it down it will start to surge up and down as i try to bring the idle down and then it will just quit. Then i have to restart it while holding thumb throttle slightly open.Did you put in a new idle jet when you rebuilt the carb? Does it idle if you hold the throttle on a little. The screw at the bottom of the carb should be screwed just snug and back it out 1.5 turns and see how it does.
Just to clarify I haven't thrown any to new parts in. I just took the carb apart throwing cleaned the varnish off everything inspected gaskets and diaphragms. I found no cracks swollen or brittle rubber.yes, it will run with the adjustment tight causing a high idle, once warmed up and i try to bring it down it will start to surge up and down as i try to bring the idle down and then it will just quit. I replaced all jets, diaphragms choke. Everything is brand new in carb as of now. Will start and run cold or hot with thumb on throttle. Will run with idle adjustment set hi. Once a try to to bring the idle down it will cut out. Can’t figure it out.Try a new pilot jet.
