Mine weren't on too tight, maybe 25ft lbs. Broke it loose with a 3/8" ratchet and a small extension. Are you turning the wrench the right way?

You may need to use a breaker bar. They should be snug, but not super tight.

I use an old mountain bike handlebar for my breaker bar. Basically a foot or so long hollow steel pipe. :)

When I take off plugs, or bolts that are tight, I get a wrench on it, and give it a few taps with a hammer. It shocks it off, then you don't have to worry about busted knucles when it comes loose.
