I have a 2003 z400 that sat for over a year. Last time i rode it, amongst other things happening, my clutch cable frayed at the stock lever. i am looking at buying an OEM cable here ... unless anyone here has a better option....?

also, i had a K&N air filter on her, which has been on there for an unknown amount of years. One of the last few times i rode, i took a look in the airbox to find it stuffed with a mouse nest, which i removed and cleaned the airbox and removed the filter and cleaned it too.
is the filter something that i should replace? ive read online that they are meant to be cleaned, and then oiled before reuse. Is this air filter specific oil something that i should now go and buy for i can reuse this air filter? or is the filter totaled and i should buy a new one?

I am also going to change my oil and possibly my coolant. I remember "engine ice" being the preferred coolant, ive never found it in a store, but is this something i should find online and buy rather than some prestone yellow coolant?
Since it has been sitting so long, i wanted to start it and let it run for a little so before i started it i noticed there was no oil on the dipstick... i added about half a quart, if that, until oil barely showed up on the stick. I started it, and after about 45 seconds i turned it off. i went to check the oil, and as soon as i took off the cap oil was overflowing. Not sure why this happened unless i shouldve just never added more oil...... Is the oil supposed to be checked while the engine is warm?

as far as oil, last time i did an oil change i changed the filter (KN-139) and used Shell Rotella t4, this time i could only find Shell Rotella T6 and i plan on using that. Is anyone else using rotella on their machines? i have a CRF that i need to do the oil on also and was going to use rotella T6 for that too. Last time i changed the oil and coolant i noticed no negative changes, im just wondering what all of your thoughts are.

Any cable is fine.
If the filter is in good shape, clean it with K&n filter cleaner and oil with K&N filter oil. follow instructions on bottles.
There are better filters, IMO, but K&N works good in sand, not as good in dust as foam type. I run them though.
After looking at that filter, I would replace it anyway. Must have been a heavy mouse to crush it like that..
I would just stick with a normal coolant unless you are getting overheating. You can get engine ice at most motorcycle suppliers like RMATV or Motosports, etc. if you feel you need it.
OIl should be checked after runs for a few minutes, then give it a minute before checking. Don't screw the stick in .
It is important the oil is wet clutch compatible, and not too slippery for the clutch's. The T4 is, not sure bout the T6. read the label.

What filter would you guys recommend? I live in central PA, so i ride mostly in fields and forested trails.

I am going to get engine ice if that seems to be the best stuff just to prevent overheating on long rides during hot days.

ill make sure to warm her up for future oil level checks. im going to go to autozone soon and get a new K&N oil filter for the oil change. You said "dont screw the stick in" to check the oil..... so i just rest it on top of the threads rather than screwing it in to check the oil? that really surprises me. i had no idea.

Seems like the rotella t6 may have had some changes recently. It is still JASO MA/MA2. Ive read forums and some say it changed for the worse because some ingredient was increased too much (i forget what) and others say it is still good to go... hearing that, i kinda wish i woulda went for the t4 but i think im gonna use this and see if it continues to run smoothly like it did before my clutch cable died.
