Sports and sputters on throttle

Hi I have a 2004 ltz400 and was putting a new top end on it(it did sit for a few months in the shop) I can have it idol just fine but as soon as I push the throttle it will pop sputter bang and will almost kill itself. I double checked the timing and it’s good. I am completely lost right now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks!!
