The air box inlet looks too restrictive for air. Now can I take it off. Or should I just take the lid off.

The Suzuki engineers didn't think it was too restrictive, but what do they know? You can take off anything you want. It may affect tuning or may not. If it does, you can either put it back on, or get a power commander and re tune the bike.
